Broadcast Tools SS8.2 WideOrbit fun

So as I found following a long epic battle with the dumb thing, the dip switch settings in the manual make no sense.

Turn on 4, 5, 6, and 10, all others off. Otherwise, the GPI inputs will not respond.

This is contrary to what is in the manual.

Picture semi related. Shrek is life, Shrek is love

  1. I’d love to know more about how this whole thing works. I haven’t heard of this kind of setup before. I’m wondering why Wideorbit doesn’t just use the AudioScience GPIO. But if I’m stuck with using the Btools box, some explanation would be nice.

    1. As I recall, uh, WideOrbit support told me the secret here, and I don’t know why it’s this way. It’s really strange. It has something to do with the way the Broadcast Tools remote responds – polled vs active output or something?
