The thing around my hair is not a ferrite core. It’s more like a slap bracelet and it’s awesome. It keeps the tail from just lying on the back of my neck.
The big hoop is an old TV/monitor degaussing coil and the box is what it came in. Don’t confuse this Jif with that other Jif. I don’t think either rhymes with Gif. Also, one of my coworkers gave me that beautiful blue hair dye, it’s from the Manic Panic line and I love it.
Thankfully I don’t have to really do any major overhaul work on these — we have the tooling in house to do it, including PCs loaded with custom software to perform certain adjustments (yikes!) and these decks don’t even speak plain English to you like my Sony DVCAM stuff does… you have to have The Fine Manual in front of you because everything is just by numbers with no text labels in any of the menus! Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I’m pretty good with paint and watercolor, in general, though I haven’t been doing it enough in the past few years.
Hair is confusing as hell.
Some pigments want to take better than others, and with my hair, well, it’s inherently evil and doesn’t want to listen to any chemical intervention. Somehow it seems like pink and red work better than anything, which is fine by me because I love how pink looks in there.
The new colors are florescent…
Surprisingly, a standard blue LED sets it glowing better than this UV penlight that was made for detecting a/c leaks.
I must be the most colorful engineer out there nowadays
There are some things in the world you can’t change. For instance, you can’t always say we just won’t keep using horrible mistakes in technology that require nothing short of severe threats to keep them in service.
I always used to want purple hair but was always too afraid of damaging it by bleaching so it’d show up, since my natural color was always kinda dark to medium brown. Later it started going silver at the temples and in a few other places and I just love that. I don’t want to do anything to hide that at all. Eventually I decided I’d try adding a few streaks of color. The first one I tried, well, I don’t really even know what to describe the resulting color as but it wasn’t really purple.
Eventually that faded to a light brown somehow and I wanted to try a couple different shades so I started making an elegant mess again.
And after all that desire to have purple for so many years, it turns out I like the pink better.
I kinda chuckled today at the nonsense with the browser tab open to a cheap looking vinyl lingerie set appearing on Faux News today, both because the commentator never considered his whole screen would be shared on air, and because… that’s just boring, man.
I’m pretty sure they can make it in other colors as well — Misfitz seems to make some off the rack stuff but also offers a ton of custom options. I’d probably want it in purple or red.
I have a different dress from them and I totally love it. The PVC fabric feels really nice and heavy without being inflexible, and it smells like 1855A coax, which amuses me far too much. The belt isn’t part of it, though it’d be freaking amazing if they had a rainbow glitter fabric like that for trim. It’d also be nice if it had epaulettes for a radio speaker/mic, but who else ever uses that?
Yeah, I’m all classy like that, and I’m making a mental note to leave tricolor foaming wax visible on the studio computers that can feed the router. Sacramento, y’all need more TCFW in your lives.
